Just Us Date #1

Friday night I was so excited I couldn't sleep! I woke up early on Saturday and got ready even though the date wasn't until 4:00. When he picked me up of course he opened my door for me and to Red Knolls we went. On our way there he said something about how he came out there earlier in the day to scout it out and make sure he remembered where everything was. So thoughtful!

I had never hiked around Red Knolls, been in the caves, or any caves for that matter. It was way cool! He brought a little flash light and head lamps {way to plan right? It gets better} and we hiked all over the place. The whole time we were talking non stop! Mostly about how great childhood was telling stories about the adventures we had and about our families. As we were getting closer to the top there were these huge holes that dropped down, and I saw what looked like basketball hoops so we picked up rocks and started to shoot some baskets ;) then as we were walking Kyle and I both bent down and picked up a rock at the same time. When we looked up we were both holding up a rock with a hole through the middle except mine was huge and his rock was about the size of a quarter. Good eye Kyle, good eye.  I said I kind of want to keep this rock and he put it in his little backpack for me! How sweet is that!? Then pointing to a huge boulder I said I think I really want to keep this one too we both just laughed.

We continued on our adventure and I saw what looked like miniature Indian ruins. We were looking at it and we saw a patch of fur. So we quickly became paleontologists and started to brush the dirt away and we started to find lots of little mouse bones. I know this sounds a little strange but it was so fun! After that he said well we should probably hurry and head to the top. Me being slightly scared of heights said the very top? And he said Oh yeah. Once we got up there it was super duper windy, like you could lean against it with out falling! Especially if you held your jacket open. Then we sat down and he said that the reason he wanted to hurry to the top was to catch the sunset. Then he said well should we start a fire and I said yup! So started thinking about how we were going back down by the car and he interrupted my thought process of how I was going to be able to climb down now that it was dark by saying, "Okay, I put some wood down in one of these holes that has a tree in it." {Whoa so awesome! And I got to postpone the scary journey down to the car} We found the hole, climbed down, started a fire, and we talked for probably a good hour, about food, and we found another cave and Kyle had been wanting to find a bat in the caves all day but we hadn't found one. And you guessed it there was a bat in this last cave! We went back to the fire and continued talking about food and he asked have you ever had roasted apples? And I said no but I've always wanted to. He then pulled some apples out of his backpack! {more great planning} Roasted apples are great they taste just like the inside of an apple pie. Yum. After that we put the fire out and climbed out of the hole and then down Red Knolls.

When we got in the car Kyle was like talking about all that food makes me want to make something now. So we decided to make cream cheese brownies! We ran around Walmart and got the stuff and then back to his house to make the brownies. They were delicious and the day/evening was so incredible! I had such an amazing time! And was so impressed with all the planning he did!
